Choosing Between Using Potty Chair or Potty Seat

potty train a child

When your baby turns 20 or 30 months, you will notice a change in his or her diaper use. More likely, your baby will be using fewer diapers than usual. This is one of the signs that your child is ready to be potty-trained and your cue to shop for a potty chair or seat.

Potty Seat or Potty Chair?

Mothers can get confused on whether they have to pick a potty seat or a potty chair to start their kids’ potty training. What is the difference between a potty seat and chair? Well, basically, a potty seat is a kiddie-size toilet seat that attaches to existing toilet seat. A potty chair, on the other hand, is a freestanding.kid-size “toilet”.

When choosing between a potty seat and chair, you have to consider what your child would be more comfortable using. You also have to consider a number of pros and cons relevant to these potty training tools.

Pros and Cons of Using a Potty Chair

Pros:
  • It is portable enough to carry around the house.
  • Compact and lightweight.
  • Comes in perfect size, making it special and less intimidating to your toddler.
  • Since it has the right height, it is safer to use for toddlers.
  • Comfortable to sit on to, making it easier for your child compared to when his/her feet are dangling from the ground.
Cons:
  • Since it is made with plastic, it can be an eyesore for any home.
  • May add clutter to your home.
  • Cleaning up is not as easy as just flushing. With the potty chair, you have to dump its contents into the toilet every time your toddler does his business.
  • Although you can bring it around the house, a potty chair is not possible to transport via a train or plane.
Pros and Cons of Using a Potty Seat

Pros:
  • It is just like using an adult size toilet. This can somehow make your toddler feel like a grown-up.
  • The size is appropriate for your child’s tiny bottom.
  • Fits most toilet seats perfectly.
  • Totally portable and can even fit into your luggage or car compartment.
  • Your kid’s businesses are flushed straight down so you do not have to clean up every time your child has to go.

Cons:
  • You need to remove the potty seat when other members of the family have to go on the toilet.
  • Can possibly raise the fear factor up since the seat can wiggle. Some kids find being perched high from the floor a bit scary, as well.
Weigh these pros and cons and decide on which type of potty training tool is best for your child (and you, as well!). Keep in mind that while some toddlers can work well with a training seat, some can be more positive with using a potty chair.

There is no one who knows your child more than you do. Therefore, you have to observe your child’s behavior and know his abilities. This will help you determine the type of tools he can use for potty training.

  1. A mesh office chair may have both, its seat and its back, made of a mesh air grid. Other types of mesh chairs have an air-grid back and a leather seat. There are also chairs with an air-grid back and an imitation leather seat.

Make sure your mesh chair comes with the following features: 2-to-1 synchronized tilt, an adjustable lumbar cushion, adjustable arms, adjustable arm height, as well as a no-swivel or swivel chair. more tips

  2. I think after one and half year age of your kids you should try to get him or her at the toilet. For that toilet seat is a must. Before that age you can try toilet chair what is freestanding or something like that. After that you should go for the training session using comfortable and fearless toilet seat at the existing toilet. Click Here for details.
